Welcome to the website of Rochester Air Cadets, "The Hornets", hopefully you found your way here because you are interested in what the Air Cadets can offer you. We have something to offer everybody from 13 years old upwards! Whether you would be interested in being a Cadet, a member of adult staff or helping out on the Squadrons Civilian Committee we can offer you something. Hopefully you will find all the information you need here or through one of the links.
The first thing you have to know about the Cadets is that it is about you enjoying yourself, but probably not in ways you’ve ever thought about before. You may not consider being on the side of a mountain with the rain hitting you horizontally to be much fun at the moment but with the correct training, top quality equipment and supervision, and above all a group of your closest friends it could be one of the most rewarding days of your life.
What makes the Air Cadets different? Well as the name might suggest to you, we fly! In the past year cadets from this Squadron have flown in Grob Tutors, RAF C-130 Hercules and RAF Chinook helicopters. If you have lived in the Rochester area of Kent, you may even have seen us fly overhead in a Chinook.
Is that it? That is NEVER "it", there is nothing that we won't have a go at, activities this Squadron has taken part in recently include gliding, shooting, Duke of Edinburgh’s award, drill competition, swimming competitions and a field gun run! But that’s not it, if there is anything you want to try, just tell us and we will see what we can do.
Take your time to look round the site and follow the links, if you would like any further information please e-mail recruiting@hornets.org.uk
