ADVENTURE TRAINING AND ANNUAL CAMPS
Adventure Training
Adventure training covers many activities including climbing, absailing, hill walking, camping and escape and evasion exercises. Cadets also have the chance of attending one of the two Corps owned adventure training centres (in Cumbria and North Wales), or other courses like Outward Bound or cross-country skiing in Germany.

This rope bridge is tied at both ends......isn't it? |
A sheet, some poles and some bungee cords. Put it all together and you get..............this! (It's a shelter for sleeping under, if you didn't guess) |
On the Squadron, we often run adventure training weekends during which cadets practice map reading or various escape and evasion techniques, such as building temporary shelters. We also run hill walking trips to areas like Snowdonia and the New Forest.

All cadets are fully trained in navigation, camp craft, first aid, the country code and safety in mountains before setting out. The squadron staff even advise cadets on the type of kit to take.
Annual Camps
Every year, the cadets have the opportunity to attend camps on RAF stations in the UK, Gibraltar and Cyprus. These camps are great fun with lots to do including flying, shooting, sport and visits to attractions in the local area. They also have a training purpose. Cadets are expected to organise themselves to get to meals and the variously activities on time, as well as keeping their kit and rooms clean and tidy.
On RAF stations, cadets get the opportunity to do section visits and see many of the trades available in the RAF - such as air traffic control, police or engineering.
As cadets on a particular camp will come from different squadrons, camps are a great chance to make lots of new friends.
